Frequently asked questions

How much does a solutions engineer job pay?

Too few of these postings state a pay range for a fair band, so the figure turns on the segment, the territory and your seniority. Every listing that publishes its range shows it, as base salary or OTE.

Is a technical degree required for solutions engineering?

Often a technical degree, or hands-on years as an engineer, consultant or administrator of the kind of product the company sells; employers weigh what you can demonstrate over the degree's name. The years and degrees today's open roles name are counted on this page.

What does a solutions engineer do?

Works beside account executives as the technical expert in a sale: learns the customer's systems, builds demonstrations and proofs of concept, and answers the security and architecture questions that decide a deal. On 1 November 2026 Databricks, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Salesforce, NVIDIA, Esri and ServiceNow had the most open solutions engineer roles, and AI and data companies posted about a quarter of them.

Are these openings real?

Each one is read from the employer's own careers system (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and the like), and Apply takes you to that company's application. A real employer never charges you for training, a starter kit or a background check; the scam checker lists the other warning signs of a fake offer.
