A US partner or channel sales job posting on this board typically pays $171,000 a year, and the middle half of postings run from $135,000 to $223,000. Partner seats (channel account managers, alliance managers, partner development and cloud marketplace roles) sell through other companies rather than to the buyer directly, and they pay more at the median than account executive seats, because most sit at software companies and many are senior. This guide breaks partner pay down by kind of partner work, level, product, city and company, and explains how the pay is earned.

On 1 November 2026 this board had 2,065 open partner and channel sales roles, 1,096 of them open to US candidates, and 821 of those (75%) stated their pay. Every figure below is the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale, and the median across the postings in each group. Right now the board's partner sales roles post a median of $185k/yr, with a typical band of $140k/yr to $319k/yr, across 1,881 open roles in every country.

1. The short answer

Measure, US partner and channel sales roles, 1 Nov 2026Posted pay per year
Median$171,000
Middle half of postings$135,000 to $223,000
Bottom tenth below$95,000
Top tenth above$264,000
Strategic partner titles (median)$208,750
Director titles (median)$212,500

For comparison, US account executive postings post a median of $125,000 and sales engineering postings $187,500; the guides Account executive salary and Sales engineer salary break those seats down the same way.

2. Pay by kind of partner work

Partner titles describe different jobs. Grouped by the words the title uses, US postings on 1 November 2026:

Kind of partner work (title names)US roles posting payMedianMiddle half
Cloud marketplace (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)16$252,750$224,250 to $264,000
Partner development35$201,000$142,450 to $230,000
Alliances63$196,500$167,500 to $230,000
Channel137$166,000$124,750 to $225,150
Partner manager181$144,612$134,000 to $180,000
  • Channel seats manage resellers, distributors and managed service providers that resell the company's product, and are measured on the revenue those partners bring. Security, networking and hardware companies sell much of their volume this way.
  • Alliances seats manage the large consulting firms and technology companies the product works with, who influence or co-sell deals rather than resell them.
  • Partner development seats recruit and launch new partners; cloud marketplace seats sell through the AWS, Microsoft and Google Cloud marketplaces and co-sell with those companies' own sellers, and post the most of any partner work, though there are few of them.
  • Partner manager titles cover the day-to-day management of an existing set of partners, and post the least.

Some healthcare and benefits companies use partner titles for a different job: building referral relationships with clinics, advisors or employers. Those seats post far less (Alpaca Health's referral partnerships managers post $85,000), and are counted here because the board files them as partner sales.

3. Pay by seniority

Level (title names)US roles posting payMedianMiddle half
Specialist, associate or analyst36$122,375$90,000 to $187,500
Manager373$157,500$124,750 to $195,000
Director143$212,500$172,500 to $255,500
Vice president or head45$237,500$200,000 to $285,750

Few partner seats are entry level: only 36 of the 821 priced US roles had a specialist, associate or analyst title. Most people move into partner work after a closing seat (account executive or account manager) or from a partner company, such as a reseller or a consulting firm.

4. Pay by what the company sells

What the company sellsUS roles posting payMedianMiddle half
Cloud and developer tools69$200,000$161,000 to $226,000
AI and data117$200,000$151,200 to $255,000
Business software133$197,500$160,000 to $230,000
Cybersecurity76$195,375$160,000 to $245,500
Fintech94$186,925$152,550 to $228,000
Industry software86$161,250$100,000 to $194,500

Security companies are among the largest employers of partner sellers, since much of the market buys through resellers and managed security providers; the guide How to get into cybersecurity sales covers that market.

5. Pay by city and remote

San Francisco Bay Area partner postings post a median of $208,850 (157 priced US roles) and New York $190,000 (189). Remote partner roles posted a median of $172,500 against $170,750 for office roles; 213 of the 821 priced US roles (26%) were remote, since partners are often spread across a country. The San Francisco and New York pages list every open sales seat in each city.

6. The companies that post the highest pay

Among companies with at least eight US partner roles posting pay on 1 November 2026, the highest medians were Anthropic ($332,500), Hewlett Packard Enterprise ($253,875), Palo Alto Networks ($249,625), Braze ($223,000), Anaplan ($212,500), Ramp ($211,250) and Salesforce ($206,500). The companies with the most priced US partner roles were Human Interest (35, posting $135,000), Esri (24, $144,612), Via (16) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (16).

7. How partner pay is earned

Most partner seats are paid like other quota-carrying seats, on on-target earnings: a base salary plus a variable part paid on the revenue partners bring in, which may be revenue they resell, deals they source or deals they influence. How the company credits partner revenue decides how easily the variable pays: a seat paid only on partner-sourced deals depends on the partners' own pipeline, while a seat credited on every deal a partner touches shares in more of the company's revenue. The guide What is OTE explains how on-target earnings are set and paid.

8. How to judge an offer

  • Ask what counts toward your number. Resold, sourced or influenced revenue, and whether a deal a partner touched counts if a direct seller closed it.
  • Ask who the partners are. A seat that inherits a set of active partners is a different job from one that has to recruit them.
  • Ask how the direct sales team works with partners. Conflict between direct sellers and partners over the same customer is a common source of friction in channel roles.
  • Compare by kind of work. A channel seat and a cloud marketplace seat share a family but differ by more than $80,000 at the median.

9. How these figures were counted

  • The roles: every open partner and channel sales role on this board on 1 November 2026, read from each company's own careers system and checked every hour: 2,065 roles, 1,096 of them open to US candidates and 821 of those stating pay.
  • The pay: the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale, and the median across the US roles in each group. The kind of partner work and the level come from the words in each title; what the company sells comes from the company.

These figures describe one day; the partner sales page always shows the current roles and pay.
