A US regional sales manager posting on this board typically pays $185,700 a year, with the middle half of postings between $137,500 and $220,648. The title covers two jobs (leading the sellers of a region, or carrying a regional number yourself), and what the company sells moves the pay more than anything else: security companies post a median of $229,000, consumer goods makers $102,500. This guide breaks regional sales manager pay down by industry, state and company, and says what to ask before accepting.

On 1 November 2026 this board had 745 open roles titled regional, area or district sales manager or director, 424 of them open to US candidates, and 286 of those (67%) stated their pay. Every figure below is the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale (base or on-target earnings, as the posting states it), and the median across the postings in each group. The regional sales manager jobs page lists every open seat with today's figures.

1. The short answer

Measure, US regional sales manager roles, 1 Nov 2026Posted pay per year
Median$185,700
Middle half of postings$137,500 to $220,648
Bottom tenth below$102,500
Top tenth above$280,000
Remote postings (median)$185,700
Office and field postings (median)$180,000

Remote is common for this seat: 158 of the 424 US roles (37%) could be done remotely, because a regional manager travels the region rather than sitting in one office.

2. Pay by what the company sells

What the company sellsUS roles posting payMedianMiddle half
Cybersecurity40$229,000$151,500 to $323,000
Pharmaceuticals and biotech70$203,740$197,500 to $232,261
Industry software16$183,725$112,500 to $238,500
Medical devices49$170,000$150,000 to $185,700
Cloud and developer tools22$161,250$150,000 to $198,200
Industrial and distribution36$110,225$90,000 to $150,000
Consumer goods31$102,500$85,000 to $121,800

Security, software and drug companies post far more than equipment, distribution and consumer brands for the same title: the top and bottom of the table differ by more than $125,000 at the median. Pharmaceutical seats are the most tightly bunched (the middle half spans less than $35,000) and security seats the most spread out.

3. State by state

StateUS roles posting payMedian
Texas17$185,700
California38$170,000
Florida12$160,000
Illinois15$150,000

State medians differ less than industry medians for this seat, and a region often spans several states. The sales pay report compares pay across every kind of seat and state.

4. The companies that post the most and the least

Among companies with at least five US regional sales manager roles posting pay on 1 November 2026, the highest medians were BillionToOne ($313,209), Amylyx ($239,000), Netskope ($229,000), Amgen ($220,648) and Mineralys Therapeutics ($197,500); then Abbott ($170,000), Cribl ($155,000), Inquis Medical ($150,000), CrowdStrike ($134,000) and Sysco ($127,900). At the low end, EōS Fitness posted $87,500 (13 roles) and Generac $85,000 (6).

The companies with the most open regional sales manager roles in every country were Palo Alto Networks (43), Amgen (31), Abbott (30), CrowdStrike (25), Cribl and Mineralys Therapeutics (21 each), and Inquis Medical, Stryker and 3M (18 each).

5. Two jobs under one title

  • The regional leader. Hires, coaches and manages the sellers of a region, owns the region's number and answers to a national or global sales leader. The bonus usually follows the region's results.
  • The regional seller. At many drug, device and equipment companies, a regional sales manager carries a regional quota personally, selling to the largest customers or the distributors in the region, sometimes with no one reporting to them. More of the pay is often commission.

Many postings say which, by naming the people who report to the seat or the accounts it owns. The guide Sales manager salary covers first-line managers of every title.

6. What to ask before accepting

  • How many people report to you, and how many of the seats are filled today.
  • How large the region is and how many nights a month it keeps you travelling.
  • What the bonus pays on: the region's number, your own, or company results.
  • How the quota was set, and how many regional managers reached it last year.

7. How these figures were counted

  • The roles: every open role on this board on 1 November 2026 whose title says regional, area or district sales manager or director, read from each company's own careers system and checked every hour: 745 roles, 424 of them open to US candidates and 286 of those stating pay.
  • The pay: the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale, and the median across the US roles in each group. What the company sells comes from the company; the state from the posted location. Postings whose stated period the board misread are left out.

These figures describe one day; the regional sales manager jobs page always shows the current roles and pay.
