Coupang's salespeople never call on shoppers: their accounts are the brands, sellers, restaurants and advertisers that stock and pay for its apps. In Seoul, Rocket Growth account managers sign sellers onto Coupang's own fulfillment and delivery network category by category (kitchen, stationery, toys and books in one posting, fashion from department stores and outlets in a mass-hiring call), Coupang Eats teams grow restaurant GMV, win franchise headquarters and source grocery, beauty and fashion partners for quick commerce, the Coupang Ads large customer sales team grows ad budgets with brands and mid-sized to large advertisers, and Coupang Pay hires a fintech business development director plus account and technical account managers for its new Rocket Pay business. Nine openings build restaurant supply in Japan for Rocket Now, the delivery app with no delivery or service fee run by CP One Japan: field sales managers for Kanto, Aichi, Osaka, Fukuoka and Hokkaido, an enterprise account manager negotiating with the headquarters of roughly 200 large food franchise chains, B2B sales reps and a sales operations specialist. Taipei adds marketplace account management and affiliate deals with media sites, apps, creators and MCNs, and a Hangzhou account manager recruits local merchants into Rocket Growth for the kitchen category. Most seats want experienced hires (five to eight years for account managers, twelve or more for the Eats directors), the Tokyo B2B sales representative being the exception with a degree and fluent Japanese as its bar; of 37 sales titles 19 are in Seoul, 9 in Japan, 5 in Taipei and none in the US.
