A US territory manager posting on this board typically pays $99,850 a year, with the middle half of postings between $80,000 and $137,000. The title is used most by medical device makers and health services companies, and many of their postings state only the base salary, with commission on top. What the company sells moves the number most: drug makers post a median of $177,000 for territory managers, health services companies $80,000. This guide breaks territory manager pay down by industry, state and company, and explains how the commission works.

On 1 November 2026 this board had 928 open roles titled territory manager, territory sales manager or territory account manager, 567 of them open to US candidates, and 416 of those (73%) stated their pay. Every figure below is the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale (base or on-target earnings, as the posting states it), and the median across the postings in each group. The territory manager jobs page lists every open seat with today's figures.

1. The short answer

Measure, US territory manager roles, 1 Nov 2026Posted pay per year
Median$99,850
Middle half of postings$80,000 to $137,000
Bottom tenth below$80,000
Top tenth above$152,500
Remote postings (median)$147,500
Field and office postings (median)$90,000

The bottom of the range is crowded: Charlie Health, a virtual behavioral health provider whose territory managers build relationships with treatment centers and other referral partners, posted 120 priced US roles at a median of $80,000, more than a quarter of the priced postings; without its roles, the median of the rest is $125,000. The remote figure is higher because Halter, which posts one of the highest bands, posted 40 of its 45 US territories as remote.

2. Pay by what the company sells

4. The companies hiring, and what they post

The companies with the most open territory manager roles in every country on 1 November 2026 were Charlie Health (120), Abbott (79), Halter (72), Stryker (60), BD (53), Heartflow (45), Medtronic (41), Johnson & Johnson (23), and XDS and Smith+Nephew (20 each). Medical device makers posted more than four in ten of the seats.

Among companies with at least five US roles posting pay, the highest medians were GSK ($194,000), Vertex Pharmaceuticals ($166,500), Halter ($152,500), Mineralys Therapeutics ($147,500), ChowNow ($137,000) and Heartflow ($125,000); then Calyxo ($120,000), Ceribell ($115,000), BD ($108,050) and Danaher ($106,250). Abbott's priced roles posted a median of $76,550, and Smith+Nephew's and Inspire Medical Systems' $80,000.

5. Base, commission and the car

  • Base or on-target. Many medical device and equipment postings state the base alone, with commission on the territory's sales on top; others state on-target earnings. Compare a base with a base and an on-target figure with an on-target figure.
  • The territory decides the commission. How many accounts it holds, how much they already buy, and how far apart they are.
  • The car. Field territories come with a car, a car allowance or mileage, and postings ask for a driver's license; that is part of the package even though it is not in the range.

The guide What is OTE explains how base, variable and quota fit together, and Medical device sales salary covers the device seats in detail.

6. What to ask before accepting

  • What the territory's accounts bought last year, and how much of that you inherit.
  • How commission is paid: on new sales only or all sales in the territory, monthly or quarterly, capped or uncapped.
  • How much travel, and whether the company provides a car, an allowance or mileage.
  • What the territory managers in their first and second year earned in total.

7. How these figures were counted

  • The roles: every open role on this board on 1 November 2026 whose title says territory manager, territory sales manager, territory account manager or territory business manager, read from each company's own careers system and checked every hour: 928 roles, 567 of them open to US candidates and 416 of those stating pay.
  • The pay: the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale, and the median across the US roles in each group. What the company sells comes from the company; the state from the posted location.

These figures describe one day; the territory manager jobs page always shows the current roles and pay.
