Logistics sales salary: what freight brokerage, forwarding, leasing and fleet software seats pay

A US logistics sales posting on this board typically pays $85,000 a year, but the trade holds some of the lowest and some of the highest posted figures in sales. Freight brokers post a median of $51,250 for seats that live on commission from each load, truck leasing posts $54,000, freight forwarders $92,250, and the companies that sell fleet management software $180,000. This guide breaks logistics sales pay down by kind of company, seat and employer, explains how brokerage pay works, and says what to ask.
On 2 November 2026 this board had 648 open sales roles at companies that sell logistics (freight brokers, forwarders, trucking and leasing companies, last-mile delivery firms and the makers of fleet and supply chain software), 388 of them open to US candidates, and 55% of those stated their pay. A role counts by what its employer sells, never its title, so a C.H. Robinson account manager counts here. Every figure is the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale (base or on-target earnings, as the posting states it), one per posting after repeats of the same title at the same company are merged, and the median across the US postings. The logistics sales jobs page lists every open seat with today's figures.

- Forwarders sell ocean, air and customs services to importers and exporters; Expeditors' district sales executives (26 US openings) are the largest group.
- Brokers and leasing companies hire the most beginners, and their posted figures are mostly a starting salary or a wage.

5. How freight brokerage pay works
A broker earns the margin between what a shipper pays to move a load and what the broker pays a carrier to haul it. Its sales seats split along that line: account managers and business development reps win shippers and price their freight, and carrier sales reps find and book the trucks. Broker postings state starting salaries or wages (RXO's most common was $40,000 to $45,000 a year), and brokerage seats are commonly paid a commission on the margin of the loads a rep moves once their book grows, which the posted figure leaves out. Before accepting:
- Ask how commission is calculated: a share of gross margin, of revenue, or a bonus over a monthly target, and from which month it starts.
- Ask whether there is a draw while you build a book, and whether you inherit shippers or start from cold calls.
- Ask for the daily targets: calls, quotes and loads booked.
- For leasing and rental seats, ask how commission on leases and rentals is paid and what the territory's past reps earned in total.
6. Getting into logistics sales
Brokerage and leasing are among the most open doors in sales. C.H. Robinson runs an account manager program and internships for students, RXO hires associate carrier sales representatives, and Ryder hires rental sales management trainees (18 US openings that day). Of the US postings whose requirements were read, 14 of 47 named a degree, and those naming years asked for a median of three. Software and forwarding seats usually ask for years of selling to shippers or fleets. The guides How to get into sales and Best industries for sales jobs compare the first seats across trades.
7. How these figures were counted
- The roles: every open sales role on this board on 2 November 2026 at a company whose own description names freight, logistics, shipping, trucking, fleets or supply chains, among companies listed in industry and distribution or in industry software, read from each company's own careers system and checked every hour: 648 roles, 388 of them open to US candidates.
- The kind of company: from the same description.
- The pay: the midpoint of each posting's own range on a full year's scale, one per posting after repeats of the same title at the same company are merged, and the median across the US postings. "Up to" figures are left out.
These figures describe one day; the logistics sales jobs page always shows the current roles and pay.
