On 1 November 2026, 1,480 companies had 38,769 open sales roles on their own careers systems, about half of them open to candidates in the United States. Software and AI companies pay the most, medical device makers and distributors hire the most field sellers, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area hold the most seats, and in states with pay range laws 84% of postings show their pay. This report gathers the month's figures in one place, each with a link to the page that holds the detail.

SalesJobs. Now reads the open sales roles of every company it tracks from the company's own hiring system (Greenhouse, Ashby, Workday, SmartRecruiters, Lever and others) and checks each one every hour. The figures below are a snapshot of 1 November 2026; the board's live pages always show today's numbers, which right now stand at 37,373 open sales roles.

Account executive seats are nearly half of all open sales roles. The types of sales jobs page breaks the rest down by kind of seat, and the sales pay report compares their pay.

2. Who is hiring the most salespeople

The companies with the most open sales roles, every country:

For US candidates the order changes: Stryker (340), Sysco (305), United Rentals (229), Toast (200), Red Bull (196) and Johnson Controls (190) lead, a sign of how much US sales hiring is field selling to hospitals, restaurants, contractors and stores rather than software. The companies hiring salespeople page ranks all 1,480 companies, and each company page lists its open roles and pay.

3. What sales roles pay, by market

Median posted pay of the open roles in each market, on its own page:

  • AI ($208k) and cloud ($193k) companies post the highest median pay, followed by public sector sales ($185k), founding seats at startups ($185k) and enterprise sales ($184k).
  • Cybersecurity ($174k), SaaS ($165k) and fintech ($158k) sit in the upper middle.
  • Medical sales posts a median of $125k across devices, pharma, diagnostics and care providers; pharmaceutical roles post higher than device roles.
  • Outside sales ($100k), CPG ($75k) and inside sales ($62.5k) post the lowest medians, reflecting their mix of entry and field seats.

Every market has its own page: AI, cloud, public sector, enterprise, cybersecurity, SaaS, fintech, medical, medical device, pharmaceutical, CPG, inside sales and outside sales. Tech sales jobs brings the software markets together (20,853 open roles), and the sales pay report ranks every market by median pay.

4. Where the seats are

New York (2,342 open roles, median posted pay $170,000) and the San Francisco Bay Area (2,038, $192,500) hold about one in five US sales roles. Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, Austin, Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta and Denver follow. Remote is the largest single market: 4,663 US roles. The guide Best cities for sales jobs ranks 21 metros with their pay and top employers, and each metro has its own page of open roles.

5. Which postings show their pay

71% of US sales roles post a pay figure or range, against 3% of roles posted for other countries. In the fifteen jurisdictions that require pay ranges in job postings, 84% of sales roles show pay; in states without such a law, 53% do. Sales engineering roles post pay most often (81% of US roles), account executive roles least often (67%). The guide Which sales jobs show their pay has the figures state by state.

6. Entry-level seats: SDR and BDR

Sales development, the usual first seat, has 2,288 open roles. SDR is the more common title (1,056 roles at 419 companies) and BDR the other (722 roles at 314 companies), and they pay the same: a median posted pay of $75,000 and $74,000. The guide SDR vs BDR explains the difference, and the entry-level sales jobs page lists the seats open to people without a sales record.

For teams hiring into these seats, the guides How to hire an SDR, How to hire an account executive and Cost to hire a salesperson turn the same figures into a hiring plan.

7. About this report

  • Source: the open sales roles on SalesJobs. Now on 1 November 2026, read from 1,480 companies' own careers systems and checked every hour. A role is US when its posting names the United States or a US location.
  • Pay: as each posting states it, base or on-target earnings, on a full year's scale (an hourly rate times 2,080 hours). A median is the middle of the posted figures in that group.
  • Markets: a role belongs to an industry, segment or selling style when its title says so, and to a product market (AI, cloud, cybersecurity and so on) by what its employer sells.
  • Use: you may quote these figures with a link to this page. The methodology page explains how roles are read and pay is measured.
