Job seekers never pay to use this board. An Apply button opens the employer's own application page, or the page of the recruiting firm filling the seat; only where a company or its recruiting firm pays us for a hire who came from here does that link carry our referral code, and the fee comes from them, never out of the base or OTE the role offers you.

Ask before you sign

Ask which retailers or channel you would own, whether bonus follows volume or profit after trade spend, and how often the seat travels to the retailer's headquarters.

Pay by kind of sales work

Each row's band comes from that kind's own open postings in this market, by the method behind every band on the board (from the 25th percentile of the midpoints of posted ranges (each counted as yearly pay, a rate per hour at 2,080 hours) to the 90th percentile of their top ends); a row needs three distinct posted ranges before it gets one. Every figure is yearly pay in US dollars; where a posting quotes a rate per hour, week or month, it is multiplied by 2,080, 52 or 12 to make a full-time year (40 hours over 52 weeks).

Companies are listed by what an application there is worth to you, and one that pays us a fee for hires sent from here gets a lift in that order; the fee never touches the base or OTE a company offers.

Frequently asked questions

What do CPG sales jobs pay?

The open CPG sales roles carry 425 separate posted pay ranges. The middle of that market is $57.9k–$170k/yr and its median $75k/yr, each figure the range a posting states, base or OTE as it labels it. The richest posting tops out at $359k/yr, at Red Bull. 1,322 of the 1,900 leave pay out, which usually means the number comes up at the recruiter screen.

What do CPG companies look for in sellers?

Ease with numbers (scan data, syndicated data from Nielsen or Circana, the return on a promotion), a record with a retailer or distributor and, for field seats, a driver's license. Many brands hire graduates into sales development or field programs that rotate through territories.

What does a CPG sales job involve?

Selling a brand into retail. A key or national account manager negotiates shelf space, promotions and price with one retailer's buyers; a category manager builds the case from sales data for where the brand belongs on the shelf; field reps visit stores to check placement and displays and to sell in new items. The scorecard is distribution, sell-through and trade spend, not new logos.

Are these openings real?

Each one is read from the employer's own careers system (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and the like), and Apply takes you to that company's application. PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment), Church & Dwight, Campbell's and METRO are among the employers on this page. A real employer never charges you for training, a starter kit or a background check; the scam checker lists the other warning signs of a fake offer.
